This paper explores the work of the Italian artist SeSar who combines in his comics cinephile interests with practices typically associated with fan culture. In doing so, he implicitly questions differences between cinephiles and fans that have dominated the scholarly perception so far. The focus is on FK e il Dr. Caligari (1986), which is discussed as a cinephilic fan comic. It functions as an externalised film memory or archive and, thus, highlights the specific kind of memory work that is located at the centre of cinephilia.
