Abstract

In their literature, Colombian writers Héctor Abad Faciolince and Tomás González preferably stage the complex processes of remembering through family memories, with the exchange of experiences depending on different media and memory figures. Selected narrative texts by both authors are examined to what extent artworks of other genres, such as poems, paintings, or songs, take on the functions of memory figures. Since the families' memories are mediated through a multitude of intermedial references in the interplay of lyrical, visual and auditory elements, it can be concluded that the contents of the represented memories are located in a social near horizon, but through these references they can be transferred into a cultural dimension and seen as paradigmatic for a larger collective.
