Abstract

This paper attempts to describe Horacio Quiroga’s agricultural activity in his property in San Ignacio, Misiones (Argentina). Quiroga’s pioneer existence, mainly between 1910 and 1916, can be seen as indicative of his place in the history of Latin American literature and reflects key issues regarding the cultural relationship with the nature of the continent.

Raphaël Luis, ENS de Lyon

Raphaël Luis is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at the ENS de Lyon, France. His research focus on Robert Louis Stevenson, latin american literature and popular literature. He is the author of La carte et la fable. Stevenson, modèle d’une nouvelle fiction latino-américaine (Bioy Casares, Borges, Cortázar) (ENS Editions, 2018) and has co-edited two volumes of essays, Le Préconstruit (Classiques Garnier, 2017) and Mythologies sportives d'aujourd'hui. Le football et ses langages (Hermann, 2021).
