Author Biography

Laura Wiemer, Bergische Universität Wuppertal

Laura Wiemer is a research assistant and postdoctoral lecturer in Romance literature and cultural studies at the University of Wuppertal. Her PhD thesis, Großstädte transkulturell erzählen (engl. Narrating transcultural cities) (De Gruyter 2025), examines French and Argentine urban texts set in Paris and Buenos Aires. Her postdoctoral project focuses on fairy tale heroines in Romance- and German-speaking countries. Laura Wiemer is also particularly interested in Afro-Spanish culture and contemporary French literature. She has been a guest lecturer at various universities in France, Spain and Argentina, has received several university awards and regularly organises academic events such as Malala Days and the online series “Was Frankreich bewegt” (engl. “What moves France”).
