No. 16 (2026): Mensch-Tier-Beziehungen in der Romania
Within Romance Studies, the study of human–animal relationships has so far only found limited recognition in scholarly research. Although Human–Animal Studies are now firmly established in numerous humanities disciplines, they continue to constitute a comparatively young and largely unexplored field of research within the context of Romance Studies. The present dossier addresses this research gap from Italian-, Spanish-, Portuguese-, and French-language perspectives, as well as through comparative linguistic corpora (German–French). What unites these contributions is an interest in understanding animals not merely as thematic objects, but as focal points of social, linguistic, aesthetic, and ethical negotiations. Dossier edited by Stéphane Hardy & Sandra Herling.
