Call for Papers on Sustainability in Vocational Education and Training Research live now!
We are pleased to announce our latest Call for Papers (CfP) focusing on "From Local to Global: Trends and Future Pathways in Vocational Education for Sustainable Development".
While Vocational Education and Training for Sustainable Development (VETSD/BBNE) has a rich research tradition in German-speaking countries—driven by innovative model projects and foundational empirical studies—much of this knowledge remains tied to specific national structures. Given the global urgency of sustainable transformation, this special issue aims to bridge the gap between local expertise and international discourse.
We invite contributions that review, systematize, and synthesize the current state of sustainability research within VET in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The goal is to make these findings accessible to a global audience, fostering cross-border exchange and identifying future research pathways.
Key Areas of InterestWe welcome submissions that address VETSD across various analytical levels, specifically structured for an international readership:
-
Macro Level: Political and legal frameworks, training standards, and steering mechanisms in the DACH region.
-
Meso Level: Institutional implementation, cooperation between learning venues (schools, companies, chambers), and professional development of staff.
-
Micro Level: Teaching and learning practices, didactic formats, and the development/assessment of occupational competences for sustainable action.
-
Methodological Level: Analysis of research methods, identification of trends, and evaluation of effectiveness within the national and international discourse.
