A new issue of the Journal of Language and Aging Research (vol. 4, no. 1) has been published!

This issue includes a study of the relationship between mindfulness exercises and word retrieval, and one on age-associated terms of address, alongside a corpus presentation, a summary of the CLARe7 conference, and an editorial.

The research articles appearing in this issue are:

  • Brief mindful breathing exercises and word retrieval performance in young and older adults (Lori James, David Van Wagenen & Hannah Levitt)
  • Terms of address in everyday interactions between older female friends and acquaintances (Anna Charalambidou)

The issue’s corpus presentation is:

  • An Italian corpus of clinical speech data: Corpus di Parlato Patologico Italiano in Pazienti Affetti da Schizofrenia Farmacoresistente (CIPP-TRS) (Laura Tagliaferro)

The issue includes a brief summary of the very rich and inspiring experience that was had at the recent CLARe7 conference, which was hosted by Tongji University in Shanghai, China 13–15 May 2026. (More information is available on our new website archiving records from the CLARe conference series.)

In the editorial from the journal editors, we discuss recent debates in the World Health Organization and beyond on the proposed labeling of age as a disease, and what it means for the way age and aging are discussed in scholarly work.
