Abstract
This text is a combination of an authorised interview with and text fragments by historian Boubacar Barry on the roots of the Guinean crisis. Barry traces the origins of the crisis back to the Sékou Touré dictatorship and even beyond. He considers ECOWAS involvement in the crucial crisis management and major reforms of the state’s structure to accommodate for the diversity of the cultural background of Guinea’s population.
