  • Birgit Mertz-Baumgartner, University of Innsbruck

    Birgit Mertz-Baumgartner is professor for French and Spanish Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Innsbruck. In her research, she deals with the postcolonial literatures of the Maghreb (especially Algeria), with French-language migration literatures, the potential of literary texts in dealing with history, and with popular literary forms such as the chanson. Habilitation thesis: Ethik und Ästhetik der Migration. Algerische Autorinnen in Frankreich (Königshausen&Neumann 2004). Her most recent publications include Opfernarrative in transkulturellen Kontexten (ed. with Eva Binder et. al.)
