Evelina Dagnino is a full professor of Political Science at the University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. She has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University, USA, and has published extensively in several countries on democracy and citizenship, the relations between culture and politics, social movements, civil society and participation. She was a visiting professor at Yale University, Goteborg University, Sweden, IDES-UNGS and FLACSO, Buenos Aires, and at Universidad de Costa Rica. Her last book is Disputing Citizenship (Policy Press, 2014), with J. Clarke, C. Neveu and K. Coll.

Ana Claudia Chaves Teixeira

Ana Claudia Chaves Teixeira has a doctoral degree in Social Sciences from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), São Paulo, Brazil. She has been Coordinator of the Citizen Participation team at Instituto Pólis from 2003 to 2010 and was part of its Direction between 2006 and 2010. Her research interests are democracy, participation public policies and social movements, and at the present, she is a researcher at the Núcleo de Pesquisa em Participação, Movimentos Sociais e Ação Coletiva (NEPAC, Research Nucleus on Participation, Social Movements and Collective Action) at UNICAMP. Her Doctoral dissertation received the CAPES national prize for the best dissertation in Sociology in 2014.
